CSA Concrete for Faster, Safer, Longer-Lasting Road Repairs

Reduce road hazards caused by extended construction
Improve road and highway weatherability
Get roads open faster

Standard Portland Cement Repairs Can’t Keep Up with the Demands of Today’s Infrastructure.

Modern Challenges
Caution icon

Road Plates Create Hazards and Slow Down Traffic

Road plates are often used to cover slow-curing concrete, but they increase risk for drivers, cyclists, and crews while keeping lanes restricted for days.

Shrink Icon

Excessive Shrinkage Leads to Premature Failure

Traditional Portland cement is prone to drying shrinkage, which creates internal stresses, cracking, and long-term durability issues in repaired concrete.

Closed Icon

Slow Cure Times Lead to Prolonged Closures

Traditional concrete can take days to reach acceptable strength, forcing extended lane reductions and nighttime or multi-day shutdowns.

Vulnerable to Chemical and Sulfate Attack

Portland cement can be chemically attacked by sulfates in surrounding soils and groundwater, gradually weakening the concrete and shortening its service life.

Calcium Sulfoaluminate Concrete

CSA Cement Beats Portland in Every Way

Calcium Sulfoaluminate (CSA) concrete is engineered for rapid strength gain, minimal shrinkage, and superior durability. Unlike traditional mixes, CSA performs consistently even in challenging conditions, allowing teams to open traffic lanes sooner and complete work with confidence.

Faster and Long-Lasting Road Repair

Rapid Early Strength Gain for Faster Re-Openings

CSA concrete reaches traffic-ready strength in as little as one hour, dramatically reducing closure windows and improving traffic flow.

Minimal Shrinkage for Long-Lasting Repairs

CSA’s chemistry eliminates the excessive shrinkage seen in Portland cement, resulting in tighter, more durable placements.

Reduced Road Hazards for Safer Roads

CSA concrete reaches traffic-ready strength in hours, eliminating the need for road plates and reducing risks for drivers, cyclists, and construction crews.

CSA Concrete in Action

When Seventeen Pavement Panels Failed, CSA Delivered

When an I-15 tanker fire destroyed pavement across multiple lanes, Western Concrete along with other construction teams were able to replace all seventeen panels in three weekend shifts, reopening the roadway by dawn each time.

At Ten PM each Saturday, crews mobilized and poured CSA concrete.
By Six AM Sunday, morning, I-15 was ready to carry traffic again.
Within three weekends, seventeen panels were replaced with minimal traffic delays.

Sustainability

Cleaner for the Environment than Traditional Concrete

CSA cement requires lower kiln temperatures than Portland, cutting energy consumption and COâ‚‚ emissions significantly. The process uses recycled by-products that would otherwise go to waste, making every batch a step toward sustainable infrastructure.
